International Literary Agent

Bibliomiss welcomes submissions of literary fiction from new and established writers in New Zealand and around the world.

Bringing to Bibliomiss a passion for literary fiction, literary agent Donelle McKinley offers writers representation, expertise, encouragement and editorial advice.

Donelle has more than ten years' experience in the book trade and publishing industry, giving her invaluable insight into what it takes to turn a promising manuscript into a successful published work.

Following the completion of a BA in English Literature and Art History at the University of Auckland, Donelle worked as a bookshop manager for Hard to Find Books New Zealand from 1999–2005, opening and managing Baxter & Mansfield, which specialised in literature, the arts and rare and collectable first editions.

During this time Donelle assisted Hard Echo Press (the publishing arm of Hard to Find Books) with the promotion of limited first editions including Elizabeth Knox, The Vintner’s Luck, Mark Z. Danielewski, House of Leaves and Craig Marriner, Stone Dogs.

Following two years as a Publishing Representative for McGraw-Hill Australia/New Zealand, during which time she completed a Diploma in Book Publishing, Editing and Proofreading through the New Zealand Institute of Business Studies, Donelle took on the role of Marketing and Sales Manager for Otago University Press. Here she promoted such celebrated New Zealand writers as Neville Peat, Dan Davin, Ruth Dallas, Poet Laureate Cilla McQueen and Landfall, New Zealand’s longest-running arts and literary journal.

Most recently, Donelle worked as the director of eko freelance, which specialised in editorial and promotion services for writers and publishers. Donelle has lived in the UK and Turkey, and now resides in Christchurch, New Zealand.
